  • The OGUNQUIT HERITAGE MUSEUM will hold an Open House on Saturday, September 10, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, presenting a Native American Exhibition, showcasing the lives and circumstances of the area’s original inhabitants. Light refreshments will be served.

Barbara Giammarino, an expert on the Penobscot people, will be present to give a talk about their traditional ways. Barbara is the granddaughter of Chief Tomekin who founded the Indian Moccasin Shop in Ogunquit and Wells. She will be accompanied by her daughter Dr. Jus Crea Giammarino, a naturopathic doctor who will speak about medicinal herbs and herbal remedies. They will be outdoors in the Dorothy Jacobs Grant Common, in front of the museum. Rain date Sunday, September 11.

    • Would like to speak to someone in ref to Chief Tomekin. I met him and his wife in the late 80s at the shop. Had helped him move around in the shop. Had a very interesting talks whenever in town. Greatly saddened by his passing. Would like to visit his resting place. Thank you.
